About Anna

She writes the books she wants to disappear into.

Illustrated portrait of Anna Everly — writing in a notebook with a mug, beneath jacaranda blossom, a coast behind her
a piece of her heart in each

Anna Everly writes cozy restoration mysteries for people who’d rather be somewhere else. The series follows June Rowan — a burnt-out journalist who reinvents herself as a garden restorer at forty — as she flies to beautiful, real, lived-in places and keeps finding the flowerbeds and the secrets buried in the same soil.

The cities are real, and she doesn’t research them from a guidebook — she writes about places she’s actually stood in, the smell of them at dusk, the way a town keeps its own stories close. Anna has lived in Oaxaca, Marrakech and Penang, and left a small piece of her heart in each of them, which may explain why she keeps sending June back to visit. The houses, the families and the crimes are invented; the sense of a place is not.

The novels are still being written — but the free prequel’s ready now. Join the postcard list and you’ll travel alongside her as she writes them, reading each story before anyone else in the world.
